Abstract
It has been reported that demmeralisation, freeze drying and radiation sterilization of allograft might improve the characteristics of allograft. The purpose of this study is to know the usefulness of radiation resterilized allograft.
T-lymphocytes subpopulation were examined by implanting radiation sterilized allograft into rabbit. The infiltration of total T cells, cytotoxic T cells and helper T cells were measured by immunohistochemical methods. The infiltration of total T cells, cytotoxic T cells and helper T cells in chip bone without radiation resterilization was severe compared to any other experimental group, the infiltratio of total T cells in dura mater was more severe than that of chip bone and fascia lata, the infil;tration of cytotoxic T cells in dura mater at three year after radiation sterilization was severe, and the infiltration of helper T cells in radiation resterilized dura mater at two year after radiation resterilization was severe. These results suggested that radiation sterilization might be useful method to reduce the infiltration of T cells and chip bone and fascia lata at one year after radiation resterilization might have good tissue compatibility. Further study is needed about the inhibition of DNA synthesis of fibroblast by radiation resterilized allograft.
